Nice pictures Ms Sofa. Your granddaughter is a cute kid. That bridge looks like it is made out of wood. I wish more of us would take pictures of our surrounding area and post them here. It helps give you a broader understanding of those of us who post on this forum.

I am ashamed.
by ThomasCovenant inif we cut out all the crap, the jehovah's witness religion kills people through their 'blood' policy.
people die from following it.. therefore i am ashamed to say that i was part of it for so long.
i used to say, as many who are still in still do, that it's not a bad way of life.. yes it is.

You should see the parade of family of mine and those in her congo only being concerned about whether she will accept blood or not. Who cares if she will die and her husband will be left alone.
I'm sorry to hear about your sister's situation Backed away. I hope she will be ok. I really don't understand how Jdubs can read the Bible as much as they do and yet not see how much they are like the Pharisees. The Watchtower blood policy is stupid confusing and wrong. But even if we assumed that what they teach about blood is in the Bible and is correct it would be over ruled to save a life. Jesus spoke about how the law was to be over ruled if a life was involved. Why don't they understand the point of Math 12:11 -12:12. Also Luke chaper 14 says about the same thing. Here the Pharisee were on Jesus for healing on the Sabbath and he made it clear to them that the laws were for man's benefit and in cases where they would cause harm (even to an animal) it was ok to put them to one side . Even in their warped translation you can get the point of what Jesus was saying but just like their ancient counterparts they are more concerned with following rules than how the rules effect real people. Pretty sick stuff but that's the Watchtower for you.

I don't know how much longer I can go without blowing up with my parents and making them confront the reality of this religion. I hate it.
I understand how you feel but in my own experience I have found you really can't force a witness to confront what they are not ready to confront. Believe me I have tried and it just doesn't work. If you do try to point out the problems with the Watchtower try to do it in a kind spirit. I know it can be hard but you need to realize that they are under the spell of the WT and it is a hard spell to break. Maybe some day they will wake up, maybe they won't but no matter what you need to get on with your life whether they remain in the tower or not. The best way to prove the WT wrong is to lead a successful and happy life.

Meeting RollerDave and seeing his aposta-truck up close
by Gopher insometimes when someone new comes on the board and makes a big splash, you wonder if it's all for real.. rollerdave arrived on this board in the last couple months and has lit it up with his insight and wit, including recent experiences dealing with his old family and congregation.. after i pm'd dave here i learned he was indeed the same dave i knew back in a north-side minneapolis kingdom hall oh so many years ago.
we talked on the phone last weekend and actually got together for the first time last night.
as i expected he is just as genuine and witty and fun as he shows on this discussion board.

Great topic Jeff!
I'm enjoying everyones stories. Some of you posting your stories here might not realize just how helpful they are to others who have left or thinking about escaping from the Watchtower. Due to the mind controling methods of the WT often when people want to leave they feel there is something wrong with them for feeling the way they do or they may feel that no one else has ever felt what they are feeling. Your stories may help give them the hope and courage to leave and build a better life for themselves.

If Jehovah Views JWs As His People Why Did He Entrust His Word To Others??
by minimus inwhy let the bible be assembled by catholics, jews and protestants???.
witnesses do not say god gave them the privilege of canonizing the scriptures or having anything to do with his word.
he entrusted the responsibilities to others that according to jw belief are deserving of destruction.....please explain..

If witnesses believe this, then WHY did Jehovah let the Catholics become the carekeepers of his word the Bible? They are the ones to compile the Canon we now have.
Exactly Gumby. The witnesses like to quote 2 Tim 3:16 "All scripture is inspired by God".... But what is the "all"? Is it the 66 books put together by apostate (in the witnesses eyes) Catholics? You'd thing they would at least admit they owe some debt of thanks to the Catholic church,

Rollerdave returns to the KH!
by RollerDave inwell folks, it had to happen, i returned to the kingdom hall.. or at least to its parking lot.. but not to worry my little jwd'ers, my return was in true rollerstyle!.
i had dropped off my mom a few days previous when she made some remarks that steamed me, i had felt she was talking through her teeth, but i now know i could only have been half right.. she calls and rambles a while, then directs me to keep her teeth safe.
after i got the explanation for this cryptic remark from her i go and investigate..... there, on my bathroom counter, next to the tushie-cleanliness paraphernalia, is an unexplained white plastic container which contained my mother's lower plate.. smelled 'minty.'.

Very funny post. It is pathetic though that not one of them guts or the concern to come over and say hello. Didn't Jesus say something about agoing after lost sheep. More proof that it is just another evil brainwashing cult that teaches it followers to fear those who question things.
Truth be known you showing up was the most exciting thing that happened at the meeting that night. Somewhere in the back of the minds of those that attended there is a small voice thanking you for killing the monotony and making it a meeting to remember. Take pitty on them and show up again.

When I posted this I was commenting on what I've observed while out driving. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there are a lot of people here who can personally relate to what this poor kid was going through.
Welcome Chad. I guess by what you and 38 years said 10 is about the age they start forcing you to knock on doors if you aren't already doing it willingly.
I like mcsemike's point about Jesus being about 30 when he made a commitment to his religion but I guess from the WT standpoint they needs these kids to push their magazines on the public.
Thanx for all your replies. Sorry so many of you had to go through that.

This morning I saw a witness mother and her son heading out into service. From the area they were in I think they were going to be doing some street corner work. I was stopped at a light when they walked in front of my car. The boy was tall, thin and looked about 15 or so. I know I’ve mentioned this before but it never ceases to amaze me how depressed most of these kids I see look. This poor kid was stooped over with his head hanging low. His book bag was almost dragging on the ground. I’ve seen kids going to the dentist who looked more cheerful than him. I wish JW parents could see the harm they are doing forcing their children to embarrass themselves in this manor. I think it is a form of child abuse. If the child believes in the religion and wants to go out that is one thing but I think it should be done on a voluntary bases with no pressure from their parents or the religion. You can’t force a child or anyone else for that matter to believe something they don’t believe in and it is even worse to force them to go out and publicly proclaim what they don’t believe in.
